Green Karst Trail - Equestrian Adventure Itinerary


Embark on an unforgettable 8-day equestrian adventure through Slovenia's pristine landscapes, from historic caves and castles to breathtaking Karst regions and the home of the Lipizzaner horses.


DAY 1: Arrival at Trnje


Arrive at your accommodation in Trnje where you’ll be shown to your room. Enjoy a delightful dinner in the evening, welcoming you to the start of your journey.
No riding today.


DAY 2: Trnje – Silentabor – Narin – Trnje


After breakfast, you'll meet the horses and begin your first ride through stunning natural landscapes. Pass under rock tunnels and along breathtaking cliffs. Enjoy panoramic views of the wilderness before stopping in Narin village for a relaxing lunch. Continue riding through the hills of Primoz, where remnants of World War I tunnels are visible, then descend into the floodplains of the Pivka River. Return to Trnje for a delicious dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 3: Trnje – Petelinjsko Jezero – Postojna or Predjama – Trnje


Begin the day with a peaceful half-day ride to the beautiful Petelinjsko Jezero. Enjoy the serenity of untouched nature and a visit to a local village offering homemade sheep’s milk cheese. After returning for lunch, you’ll have the choice between visiting the famous Postojna Cave or the Medieval marvel of Predjama Castle. Return to Trnje for dinner and an overnight rest.

DAY 4: Trnje – Palsko Jezero – Lipica Stud


In the morning, set off on a ride to Palsko Jezero, traveling through lush green forests and scenic vistas. After lunch in Trnje, take a visit to the renowned Lipica Stud, home of the majestic Lipizzaner horses. Explore the museum, tour the stables, or enjoy a tranquil horse-drawn carriage ride. Return to Trnje for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 5: Trnje – Pivka Floodplains – Bac – Sembije


Embark on a full day of riding through picturesque terrain. Ride along the floodplains of the Pivka River, past an ancient mill and castle ruins. Stop for a break under the shade of giant lime trees, then continue to Bac for lunch. In the afternoon, ascend through forest paths to Sembije, where you'll be treated to panoramic views. Leave the horses for the night and enjoy a delicious dinner before returning to Trnje.

DAY 6: Piran - Mediterranean Charm (Non-Riding Day)


Today is a non-riding day as you head to the charming town of Piran, a medieval port town with narrow streets, Venetian architecture, and a rich cultural heritage. Enjoy free time to explore the town and enjoy lunch at one of the many coastal cafes or restaurants.
No riding today.


DAY 7: Sembije – Milojna – Trnje


In the morning, travel to Sembije to meet the horses. Ride through bear territory in the wild, hilly terrain of Milojna, where stunning vistas await. After a special lunch featuring wild boar goulash, continue your ride back to Sembije. In the evening, join a guided bear-watching experience in the wilderness, where you may spot wildlife in their natural habitat. Return to Trnje for a final dinner and overnight rest.
Riding time: 5 hours.


DAY 8: Departure


After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward journey or flight home, filled with memories of your unforgettable equestrian adventure in Slovenia.
