Get to know the cradle of the Lipizzaners - one of the oldest stud farms in the world with a tradition dating back to 1580! Visit the »on Borjača« stables where the white mares take care of their dark foals. Admire the historical centre of the stud farm and its oldest stable, Velbanca. Lipica is the oldest European stud farm continuously breeding one of the oldest cultural horse breeds. As such it has a remarkable significance as a cultural, historical and natural heritage for Slovenia and Europe. The history of Lipica is closely intertwined with the Habsburgs and the time when horse was considered an ideal and was at the time a crucial strategic advantage. The Lipica story begins in the 16th century when the abandoned summer residence became the court stud farm. The charms of the Lipica Stud Farm are hidden in the unseen, the stories written by the local history. Only when walking on the historical paths we can truly experience the greatness of the local equestrian tradition.

The Lipizzaner is one of the oldest cultural horse breeds in the world. The name of the breed is derived from Lipica, its point of origin in the Slovenian Karst. The cradle of the Lipizzaner is the Lipica Stud Farm, established by the Habsburg Archduke Charles II in 1580. The Lipizzaner is one of the foundations of Slovenian pride and a symbol of which we Slovenians boast. The Lipizzaner is a harmoniously built, elegant and noble horse of medium frame suitable for performing classic dressage elements, riding and coach-drawing. It has a benevolent nature and a vivacious temperament.

DRESSAGE LESSONS:
- 50,00 € per lesson (30 minutes) for beginners
- 65,00 € per lesson (45 minutes) for advanced riders
- 400,00 € per 10 lessons (30 min lesson) for beginners
- 550,00 € per 10 lessons (45 min lesson) for advanced riders
TRAIL RIDING:
- 200,00 € riding to the Škocjan Caves + entry fee (on Monday)
- 120,00 € riding through the Karst Living Museum (on Tuesday),
- 150,00 € riding to the Kokoška hill with lunch at the top (on Thursday),
- 200,00 € riding to Socerb castle or to Mythical Park Rodik with lunch (on Friday),
- 90,00 € riding in the Trails of the White Horse - across the Lipica Estate (on Saturday),

Presentation of the Lipica Classical Riding School

Find out what brought international fame to the Lipizzaners! Let the white stallions charm you with their elegant movements, noble character and effortless ease as they present the most demanding figures of classical dressage.

The presentations of the Lipica Classical Riding School last for 45 minutes and the last number is the attractive “School above the ground”.

Lipica trains first-class horses for the Spanish Riding School, where they demonstrate the haute école or "high school" movements of classical dressage. This is the highest degree of training that a horse can achieve.

It is an extremely demanding equestrian art whose movements are based on those naturally performed by the horse when at liberty.

Lipizzaners are made to measure for this and are certainly the best at it of all breeds of horse.

Trail riding at Lipica Stud Farm

Experienced riders are kindly invited to discover Lipica and the Karst while riding on horse back.

Join us in a unique experience.

Availability (upon previous reservation):

- on Monday from 10 am to 1 pm,

- on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 6 pm.

Confirmed booking is needed to attend the trail ride.

The participants should be in Lipica at least 30 minutes before the agreed beginning of the trail ride.

Before going out on the trail ride, participants will be tested in order to check their riding knowledge and ability.
